Madison Sterns, Inc., A National IT Consulting Firm, is currenlty looking for a Senior Linux Engineer for a customer in New York. This is a 3 month right to hire engagement. 

Linux – knowledge of OS, build process, PXE boot and kickstart process, DHCP, TFTP, DNS, 
cobbler, Redhat Satellite Server. RHEL and Centos knowledge, openssl, mysql; scripting in 
perl, shell, Apache, Tomcat; Knowledge of in-memory databases, memcache, vsftp;        

Storage – knowledge of storage technologies, san fcs storage switches, VSAN and routing, 
EMC Clariion CX4, Celerra, VNX, Vplex, RAID, benchmarking/performance analysis; concepts
of data storage, handling large data on san and optimizing the data

Addtional Client information:

The client is a hedge fund seeking a highly motivated, talented and experienced Engineer 
with good communication skills who will get to work on new and exciting technologies in 
fields of Linux, GFS clustering, Infoblox DNS, EMC Vplex/VNX and CX4 Storages, Web, VMW,
and Marketdata. The candidate needs to have good fundamentals in the above 
technologies and have had fairly good exposure to all. 
The servers are powered by RHEL and Centos and are used in algorithmic trading along with
Oracle database server backend and high availability of the services are essential.
The candidate must also possess good troubleshooting skills and understand interaction of 
systems with network, databases and other messaging and market data components.
The candidate will be a member of 24x7 global infrastructure support team and provide 
daily user support and any Linux-based services to monitor and maintain firm’s production 
and QA/Dev environments.

Linux: knowledge of clustering, rac, GFS, RHCS, VDI, monit

Monitoring – knowledge of SNMP and SNMP based tools. Knowledge of Traverse a plus

DNS – knowledge of DNS, DHCP, dns zones and resolution, knowledge of Infoblox and SPM 
a plus
Network – knowledge of Linux networking fundamentals – routing, tcp/ip,udp, network 
troubleshooting, network bonding and link aggregation.
Hardware – knowledge of chassis and blades and iLo’s   
Software – knowledge of Perforce, Github and change management systems, Vmware, 
Splunk, Commvault
Assist development teams as needed and provide day to day operational support and 
escalate issues
Respond to trouble tickets
Be part of on-call rotation
Create system documentation and procedures
Participate in research and development of new technologies
